On 21 September 2026, with facilitation of Academia Industry Cooperation Kathmandu University (AICKU), Kathmandu University and Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Ltd. (HIDCL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding today, establishing a five-year framework for cooperation in renewable energy research, technical due diligence, and student engagement. The MoU was signed by Associate Prof. Dr. Biraj Singh Thapa, Registrar, KU, and Prajesh Bikram Thapa, Chief Executive Officer, HIDCL.
Alongside, AICKU and HIDCL signed a Letter of Agreement for a preliminary feasibility study on hydrogen production in Nepal, signed by Lakshman Lama, Coordinator, AICKU, and Prajesh Bikram Thapa, Chief Executive Officer, HIDCL.
